Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This notice explains how the Nottinghamshire Dormouse Group (“we”, “us”) looks after any personal information you share with us, and the rights you have around it. If anything here isn’t clear, please email us at Nottsdormousegroup@gmail.com.
Who we are
We’re a volunteer group working to conserve hazel dormice in Nottinghamshire. For the information described here, the Nottinghamshire Dormouse Group is what data-protection law calls the “data controller” — the group responsible for looking after it. You can reach us at Nottsdormousegroup@gmail.com.
The information we collect
When you fill in a form on this website or email us, we collect the details you choose to give us — usually your name, your email address, the reason you’re getting in touch, and your message. We don’t collect any more than we need to help you.
How we use it
We use your details only to reply to you and to help you take part — for example, arranging a monitoring visit or setting up membership. We will never sell your information, and we won’t share it with anyone for marketing.
Our lawful basis
Under UK data-protection law we rely on your consent when you choose to send us a message, and on our legitimate interest in running the group and responding to the people who get in touch.
Cookies
This website uses a small number of essential cookies that keep it working properly and secure. We don’t use cookies to follow you around other websites.
How long we keep it
We keep your messages only for as long as we need them — to deal with your enquiry or your involvement with the group — and then we delete them.
Sharing and other services
Your personal details stay within the group. Our website and email run on trusted third-party services that handle data on our behalf. If you buy something from our online shop, that’s run by Teemill, who have their own privacy policy. The dormouse records we send to the National Dormouse Database are about the animals, not you, and contain no personal information about visitors to this site.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — just email Nottsdormousegroup@gmail.com. If you’re ever unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time; when we do, we’ll change the date at the top of the page.
